BACKGROUND OF BIRCH ACRES PRIMARY SCHOOL

In 1980 Birch Acres Primary School opened at our current premises in Sneeubal Street, Birch Acres.  The school building was built to accommodate 750 learners and our learner numbers have grown steadily over the years.  To date we have
1 450 learners

The first principal was Mr J C Crous.  Mr E E Krugel held the position of principal from 1983 – 2007,
then Mr C G Bothma, was appointed as principal from 2008-2021. Our current principal is Ms N L Mkhonza who was appointed in 2024.

Our school fees are one of the most affordable in the area with the school subsidizing approximately 200 families that cannot afford the fees.  We have a feeding scheme in operation whereby some children are fed daily.  These learners are schooled at Birch Acres Primary free of charge and supplied with uniforms, text books and stationery from school funds.

We have a very committed staff of teachers and Birch Acres Primary is highly regarded in the community.  The proof lies in the many, many pupils who have passed through our hands and have become successful members of society.  We are very proud of the school’s successes and achievements and we will do everything in my power,  to uphold the good name of the school.
